Invitation Wording Library

Find your words

Copy-and-paste invitation wording for birthdays, baby showers, bridal showers, weddings and other celebrations. Replace every bracketed detail and choose wording that reflects the event you are actually hosting.

Start with a warm invitation, then make the date, time, address and reply instructions easy to find. You can use these examples in your own personal invitations. They are wording suggestions, not a promise that every design has room for every line.

Before you copy an example

  • Replace all placeholders, including RSVP dates and contact details.
  • Use a complete date and add the time zone if guests need it.
  • Include a finish time when helpful, especially for children's activities.
  • Make it clear who is invited and whether parents need to stay.
  • Describe only the food and activities you have planned.
  • Check the editable fields and available space in your purchased template.

Make the wording fit your celebration

For a formal wedding, use a more measured opening and write names as the couple prefers. For a casual party, a short invitation is usually enough. For showers, check the honoree's preferences before adding gift requests, a registry or any planned traditions.

Give the RSVP deadline enough room for your shopping, catering or seating arrangements. For family parties, request a head count. For a children's party, confirm supervision and pickup plans privately with caregivers rather than leaving them to guess.

A digital invitation image does not automatically track replies. State how guests should respond and record their answers. If a venue has an entry requirement, age restriction or accessibility limitation, check it and communicate the relevant information clearly.

Keep optional requests friendly. Say what guests should wear or bring without promising prizes, gifts or activities that are not arranged. For an adults-only event, direct wording is clearer than hints.

Check before you send

  1. Read the invitation as a guest who knows nothing about the event.
  2. Verify names, dates, time, address and RSVP contact.
  3. Remove every remaining bracket or sample detail.
  4. Check the exported image on a phone or print one test copy.
  5. Send a short accompanying message for directions or clickable links.

Kids’ birthday wording for siblings, caregivers and drop-offs

Decide the real guest arrangement before writing the invitation. Venue capacity, supervision, cost and the children’s needs may influence it. Be clear without implying that one arrangement is right for every family.

When siblings are welcome

[Invited child] and siblings are welcome. Please RSVP with the names and number of children and adults attending by [Date].

When places are for named children only

We have places arranged for the children named on the invitation. Please let us know whether [Invited child] can join us by [Date].

If asked about siblings, explain your actual limit kindly. Do not invent a venue rule to avoid a direct conversation.

When a caregiver should stay

Please plan for a parent or caregiver to stay with [Child] during the celebration. We look forward to celebrating together from [Start time] to [End time].

When drop-off has been agreed

Drop-off is welcome by prior arrangement with [Host]. Please confirm the responsible adult’s contact details and the agreed collection time before party day.

A line on an invitation does not establish supervision arrangements by itself. Discuss the plan directly with caregivers and the venue as needed; do not infer readiness from age alone.

When you need a complete head count

Please reply by [Date] with the names of the invited children attending and whether their parent or caregiver will stay, so we can confirm our arrangements.

Make a short follow-up easier

Keep the main invitation readable. Use the accompanying message for parking, access or a longer explanation. If the plan changes, contact confirmed guests directly rather than silently editing the design. Our RSVP Reminder Guide includes follow-up messages, and Digital Invites explains how to share the finished file privately.
